Today I announce my candidacy for the State of Texas District 31 State Senate seat.

At the federal level we have seen unprecedented growth in government and its ever expanding reach into the lives of everyday citizens. Farmers and Ranchers, those of us involved in domestic energy production, small businesses and property owners, all realize that our greatest threats aren’t from the marketplace, but from the costly regulations being imposed on us from Washington DC

At the same time, Texas continues to be a beacon of hope for the ideals upon which America was founded- freedom, free markets and economic opportunity, the value of every life, and individual liberty. But Texas is now under attack from those outside of this state. The Democrats want to take back control of our state, because they know that Texas stands in their way to assuming unprecedented control of our country.

As an attorney in the oil and gas industry, I have been blessed with success in my career. But, like a lot of you, I worry now, whether my children and grandchildren will be able to enjoy those same opportunities that were available to me as I grew up and during my adulthood. Now is a most important time – a crucial time – for Texas and for our Country.

Texas needs strong conservative leadership in Austin. Texas needs leaders who understand that spending money you don’t have isn’t fiscal responsibility, who understand the concept of limited government and the need to protect small business owners, not just because it sounds good, but because they are in business and have seen the impacts of unnecessary and overbearing government, first-hand. Most importantly, we need leaders who are committed to preserving the rights of the individual, and protection of their values should always be job #1.

As the Mayor of Midland from 2001 to 2008, I have shown by my record that I know how to lead; that I know how to listen to my constituents; that I know how to help bring about consensus among those who represent the citizens; that I know how to get results; and that I hold dear to my heart the values and principals upon which this great nation was built. I have shown that I am up to the challenge of representing all the good people of this Senate District which, with its many, many resources, is so valuable to the State of Texas.

I am ready to go to work for all of the hard-working, freedom-loving citizens of this District. I am asking for your vote. Thank you.

What great news!!!! Cynthia and I have felt that Kal Seliger HAS NOT done his job as a Senator and we were so hoping a good candidate could come in, give him a run for his money and then Beat Him. We are all about that and will do anything we can to help you. Just say the word. This is OUTSTANDING NEWS and we are so happy to hear of your candidacy. We KNOW YOU, and you can beat Seliger and become a candidate that everyone can be proud of!

What good news. Seliger was the author of SB346 which was designed to restrict your right of political speech. Fortunately Gov Perry seen this freedom restricting bill for what it was and vetoed it. Evidently Seliger views you as a subject to be ruled rather than a constituent to be represented, and dare you oppose his right to hold his elective office without opposition. How dare you unwashed subjects oppose his politices. Seliger needs to go.
